The Sexual Empowerment Training (S.E.T.) Program provides evidence-informed trainings to HBCU students and their support networks (including administrators, staff and other campus community members) on foundational topics such as healthy relationships, sexually transmitted infections and contraception.
The S.E.T. aims to become a national standard across all HBCU campuses, transforming Black wellness and the culture surrounding sexual health.
The S.E.T. Model
Core Trainings
We provide trainings to anyone in the HBCU community on 3 core areas- healthy relationships, contraception and STI prevention. Trainings are divided across three, two-hour events and participants are incentivized with free food and interactive activities! The core topics were determined by student surveys and public health data.
S.E.T. Boosters
We provide additional educational opportunities that HBCU communities can request on wellness topics such as menstruation, sexual pleasure or pregnancy. The subjects covered by boosters are determined by students’ expressed interests.
Microgrants
Once participants complete all three of the Core Trainings, they may apply for a microgrant to host wellness events on their campus. The microgrants empower HBCU students and their support networks to become sexual health and wellness leaders and provide unique educational opportunities for the campus community.
